Will Google reject your Business Profile post?
Paste the post before you publish it. We check it against Google's posts policy and the reasons we have seen posts rejected, tell you what to fix, and clean up what can be fixed for you.
What this checks
- Phone numbers, email addresses, and social handles in the text
- Links that belong on the button
- The 1,500 character limit, and what shows on the Maps card
- Capitals, repeated punctuation, emoji runs, and hashtag blocks
- Regulated products and offensive language
- A missing or broken button
- Offer and event titles, dates, times, and terms
Each rule comes from a Google help page or from posts we have seen rejected, and each result links to its source. No AI, nothing stored.
Why Google rejects posts
Google reviews every post after you publish it. A post it does not approve never shows on Search or Maps, and the editor marks it Not approved with a question mark that points to the policy. The rules it publishes are short: no phone numbers, email addresses, or social handles it cannot verify, no links to sites unrelated to the business, nothing selling regulated products like alcohol or cannabis, and nothing offensive. Of those, the phone number is the one that catches most businesses, because a number in a post looks helpful. When we found 33 of our own customers' posts rejected in July 2026, at least 31 had a phone number in the text, and every one of those 31 went live once the number came out.
Why posts that go live still get ignored
A post can pass review and still do nothing. On Google Maps a post first shows as a small card with roughly its first 50 characters, so a post that opens with a greeting says nothing until someone taps it. Rows of exclamation marks and blocks of hashtags are what Google calls extra characters and text that adds no value, and capitals read as shouting. And a post without a button gives people nothing to tap: Google lets every update and event carry one, from Book and Order online to Call now.
Offers and events need more than text
An offer needs a title and a start and end date before Google will take it, and Google adds a View offer button on its own. An event needs a title and dates too, and without times it shows as lasting 24 hours. Titles allow 58 characters. Terms and a coupon code or redeem link are optional in the form, but an offer without them leaves people guessing how to claim it. Hotels cannot post offers at all.
How we know
Every result above links to one of these. Google's rules come from its own help, policy, and API pages. Where Google does not publish a number, we say what we measured and when.
Google Business Profile Help: Create & manage posts on your Business Profile
Posts with a phone number in the description might get rejected if the number cannot be tied to the business. Offers need a title and dates, events need a title and dates, and an event without times shows as lasting 24 hours. Google asks for posts without misspellings, extra characters, or text that adds no value, without offensive language, and, in regulated industries, without content about the products.

Google Business Profile Help: Business Profile photos, videos & posts content policy
Google may remove posts with contact details it cannot verify, including phone numbers, email addresses, and social media handles, and suggests the Call now button instead. Hotels cannot create offer posts or any post about deals or discounts.

Google Business Profile Help: Prohibited & restricted content
Posts may not include email addresses, phone numbers, social media links, or links to websites that are not related to the business. Offers and calls to action for regulated products such as alcohol, gambling, tobacco, guns, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, adult services, and financial services are not allowed, and neither is profanity used to offend.

Google Business Profile API: localPosts reference
The button types a post can carry (book, order, shop, learn more, sign up, call), that every button except Call sends people to a link, and that offer and event posts need event details: a title and a schedule.

GMB Helper.ai data: the posts Google rejected for our customers in July 2026
In July 2026 we found 33 posts we had published for customers that Google had marked rejected. At least 31 of them had a phone number in the text. We took the number out of those 31, posted them again, and all 31 went live. Posts from the same businesses without a number were live the whole time. One business kept its posts with numbers live, so the rule is not applied every time.

GMB Helper.ai data: Google refuses offer and event titles over 58 characters
In September 2026, while building offer and event posts into our scheduler, we saw Google’s Business Profile API refuse any offer or event post whose title was longer than 58 characters, with an invalid argument error. On October 20, 2026 the offer title box in Google’s own post editor counted to 58.

GMB Helper.ai data: Google’s post editor counts to 1,500 characters
Google’s help pages do not print a length limit for posts. On October 20, 2026 we opened Google’s own post editor in Business Profile Manager: the description box counts to 1,500 characters on updates and offers, and our scheduler holds every post to the same 1,500.

GMB Helper.ai data: how much of a post Google Maps shows before you open it
On October 20, 2026 we opened the profiles of five businesses on Google Maps on a computer, signed out. Each profile’s latest post showed as a small card with its first 46 to 65 characters, and the rest appeared only when the post was opened. We did not measure the phone apps or Google Search, so treat 50 characters as a guide.

Questions
Why was my Google Business Profile post rejected?
Google marks it Not approved and puts a question mark next to the status that points to the policy it broke. The most common reason we see is a phone number in the text: Google says posts with a phone number might get rejected, and it may remove posts with contact details it cannot verify, including email addresses and social media handles. After that come links to unrelated websites, content about regulated products such as alcohol or cannabis, and offensive language. Paste the post above to see which applies.
What is the character limit for a Google Business Profile post?
1,500 characters for the description, by the counter in Google’s own post editor. Offer and event titles allow 58. On Google Maps a post first shows as a small card with roughly its first 50 characters, so put the point first.
Can I put a phone number in a Google post?
You can type one, but Google says posts with a phone number in the description might get rejected, and in our own posts it was behind nearly every rejection we found. Add the Call now button instead. It dials the number already verified on the profile.
Can I add a link to a Google post?
Put it on the button. Google describes the button as the way to send people to a website to book, order, or learn more, and its policy does not allow links in posts to websites that are not related to your business.
If my post passes here, will Google approve it?
Not always. Google reviews every post and does not publish every rule. This checks the rules Google does publish and the reasons we have seen posts rejected. A pass means none of those are in your post.
Do you store what I paste?
No. The check runs in your browser, so the post never reaches our servers.
